Enoteca Fiore – Guardiagrele, Chieti

Februar 15, 2010 Articles by Province, Chieti, Gourmet Tips, Wine Reviews No Comments

Romina and Gianfranco Fiore have only been operating Enoteca Fiore since March 2006 but it is already very popular amongst the locals and the smaller towns surrounding Guardiagrele. Much of this has to do with the fact that they are extremely friendly, definitely understand the concept of customer service and also have a large selection of wines from the region in every price category as well as 7 (very) fairly priced wines which can be purchased by the litre and are filled on the premises. And yes, you do get great value! For example, the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo “Fiore” costs a mere € 1,60 (pleasant bouquet and typical fruity novello palate) and the Cerasuolo, which is a wonderfully refreshing wine on a hot summer’s day, costs € 0,90 per liter (no, not a typo) and is an absolute steal considering the quality.

But if a finer drop is more to your liking, you can purchase a number of Italy’s finest wines & Grappa, fine Champagne as well as classic Whiskeys and Rums.

Enoteca Fiore also offers a variety of olive oils which they produce and in a variety of flavours: garlic, chilli peppers, basil, lemon and fine herbs. And if you are also into the Slow Food movement, a small but fine selection of natural regional products are on offer.

If you happen to be looking for a fine drop to enjoy during your visit to Abruzzo or may want a larger quantity to take home with you in order to make the vacation feeling last that much longer, than you will be glad to have visited Romina and Gianfranco.

Be sure to visit Guardiagrele on a Sunday morning, which is also market day. You will be stunned by all the finely dressed elderly men waiting for their wives to get out of mass, exchanging the news of the day and week at the piazza and the number of people strolling up and down the main strip, Via Roma. You won’t have to look hard for Enoteca Fiore, it’s the establishment with the line up of customers waiting to purchase their wine for the Sunday “pranzo”.
