Fattoria Bruno Nicodemi, run by the brother and sister team of Elena and Alessandro Nicodemi, is located on a hilltop in Notaresco (Teramo). The winery was founded in 1970 and run by the sibling duo since 2000 and since then, has been a rising star on the Abruzzo wine scene.
The close proximity to the Adriatic coast to the East with the Apennin mountains to the West, make for an exceptional micro-climate, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly with a high level of concentration which adds to wines’ aroma and full flavour. All grapes are grown organically, harvested by hand and pressed with the most modern of technology.
FBN was awarded the prized Gambero Rosso “Tre Bicchieri 2008” for its 2003 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Colline Teramane NEROMORO Riserva and their notable 2005 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and 2006 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, under the Notarì label, close behind with “Due Bicchieri”.
Elena and Alessandro’s relentless quest for quality and respect for the land makes FBN a winery you won’t want to miss should you be looking to stock up your cellar with fine, elegant wines to be enjoyed for years to come. Speaking with Elena Nicodemi, it’s difficult not to get infected with the wine bug as her passion for the trade, territory and family heritage are as authentic as the wines she produces. The view of their surrounding vineyards and olive groves from their office and visitor centre is absolutely breathtaking, which surely helps in the motivation department. The wonderfully cypress lined entrance is just a foretaste of that which you will find within the grounds and in the winery.
Upon our visit (June 2008), we were privileged to tour their new wine tasting facilities which were currently under construction and close to completion. Visitors and groups are welcome all year round with advance notification.
